Vegetarians Look Away: Why Grass Fed Beef Is The Most Nutritious Meat

We’re always looking out for news relating to the most natural health initiatives, and recently we came across an article that proved interesting reading. We want to get the most out of our food, whether it is vegetables or meat, and are always on the lookout for foods with the highest amounts of nutrients, like vitamins, minerals and natural enzymes. Now scientists are telling us that one of the main rules of thumb of the last 60 years may be a myth: red meat is actually good for you!

For over 60 years red meat has been off many menus because of it’s heart clogging saturated fat & cholesterol content. Poultry products have been dominating and have been marketed as the healthiest animal protein due to their low-fat content. Now new research has proven that grass-fed beef is far more nutrient dense than poultry.

Heart disease and red meat

Heart disease is always caused by saturated fat and cholesterol, most people believe. But research indicates that some saturated fats and cholesterol are actually necessary for overall cellular health. They play an extremely important role in regulating neurological and hormone function. A diet low in these important fats causes lowered immunity and accelerated aging, including brain degeneration.

Red meat could be one of the best and most nutritious foods in the diet, or one of the worst. What’s the key factor here? The same factor we are always pressing: that fresh, natural foods are the most nutritious and beneficial to us, and the animals that we eat. The key factor is what the animal itself is eating. Naturally, a cow will eat a 100% diet of green grass, flowers and shrubs. In captivity on indoor beef farms, cows are fed with grain which is contrary to their natural needs and leads to excess weight gain and fat accumulation.

We’re advocates of a free-range lifestyle for any livestock, as a matter of principle. This research just goes to show how beneficial to both the animal and the human this kind of lifestyle can be.
