Acid Fungal Protease

This allows the protease to remain effective at lower pH ranges.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

A powerful antioxidant that shows promise for a range of health applications, from treating liver disease or poisoning to managing diabetes and lowering cholesterol.

Amylase

An enzyme that helps digest carbohydrates.

Anti-inflammatory

Reducing the swelling, redness and/or pain (collectively inflammation) that is the body’s response to illness or injury.

Antioxidant

Describes a range of substances that, when consumed, can protect the body from free radicals by ‘scavenging’ them from blood and tissue.

Ascorbyl Palmitate

A fat-soluble form of Vitamin C and a potent antioxidant.

Beetroot Fibre

Beetroots are rich in a range of potent antioxidants and nutrients such as magnesium, potassium, Vitamin C and betaine, which is important to cardiovascular health.

Bilberry

An extract from this plant contains high levels of antioxidant and may help improve circulation.

Bromelain

A proteolytic enzyme derived from pineapple, used to reduce swelling.

Catalase

An enzyme that is believed to lower serum choleterol and break down peroxides in the blood, Catalase is also a potent antioxidant.

Cellulase

A complex of several enzymes that converts indigestible plant sugar cellulose into simpler sugars.

CoQ10

A vitamin-like substance found in small quantities in meat and seafood, Coenzyme Q-10 is also manufactured by the body, but in decreasing amounts as we age. It is an effective anti-oxidant and plays a crucial role in transmitting energy throughout the body.

Enzyme

Complex proteins essential to all bodily functions, many enzymes are not produced by the body and are obtained only from certain foods or dietary supplements.

Fennel Powder

Believed to have a calming effect on the stomach, fennel has in studies also shown evidence of repairing liver function.

Fibrin

Essential in that it enables the blood to form a scab in wound healing, this fibrous protein can in excess quantities cause a potentially dangerous blood clot.

Fibrinase

A proteolytic enzyme that degrades fibrin and is believed to improve circulation.

Free radicals

Reactive molecules produced when the body breaks down food or when pollution (including tobacco smoke) is inhaled, free radicals are linked to a range of diseases including cancer. Evidence shows that antioxidants are capable of neutralizing free radicals.

Garlic

The common garlic bulb has been demonstrated to moderately reduce high blood pressure, prevent hardening of the arteries and reduce the risk of certain cancers.

Gotu Kola

A plant from Sri Lanka used to treat anxiety, Gotu Kola also demonstrates antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral effects when consumed.

Grape Seed Extract

A powerful antioxidant that shows potential for managing or helping prevent a range of ailments, from high blood pressure and high cholesterol to forms of cancer. It is also believed to play a role in protecting collagen in the skin.

Green Digestive Blend

Atone’s vegetarian blend of the essential enzymes amylase, lipase and protease, which are needed to break down carbohydrates, fats and proteins respectively.

Lipase

An enzyme that breaks down fats and oils in the digestive process.

Milk Thistle

Extracts from this flowering plant have in many studies demonstrated the ability to both prevent and repair damage to the liver.

Papain

A mixture of proteolytic enzymes derived from papaya and believed to have anti-inflammatory properties.

pH

A numeric scale for measuring how acidic or alkaline a substance is. Plant enzymes are relatively stable in the stomach’s low pH (acidic) environment.

Probiotic

Microorganisms believed to benefit us (in most cases our gastro-intestinal tract) when ingested.

Protease

A group of enzymes that are necessary to digest proteins; proteolytic enzymes.

Protease SP

Atone’s blend of bacterial and fungal proteases optimized to maximize their ability to break down proteins.

Proteolytic

Able to digest proteins; describes proteases.

Reishi

A group of Asian mushroom species that research suggests may offer a range of pharmacological benefits, from boosting the immune system to lowering blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol.

Rutin

Found in roots, berries and asparagus, this flavanoid (a type of plant pigment) has both antioxidant properties and anti-inflammatory properties.

Selenium

A trace element in human nutrition that is believed to play a role in healthy cellular function, recycling of Vitamin C and effective immune response.

Serratiopeptidase (coated)

A proteolytic enzyme that degrades fibrin and is believed to combat inflammation and help manage rheumatoid arthritis. Serratiopeptidase is coated to protect it from stomach acids and enable more of it to reach the small intestine for absorption.

Shiitake

East Asian mushroom being studied for its possible ability to boost the immune system and protect against certain forms of cancer.

Vitamin E

A fat-soluble family of substances that act as antioxidants and are thought to reduce the risk of a number of age-related degenerative disorders.

Zinc L Carnosine

A form of zinc that shows promise in treating peptic ulcers.
